Description

Evan is known for being unpredictably mysterious and untamed. Even his old lover Megan believed in his camouflage. When she transfers to the West Coast to join the new helicopter division, their lives collide once again. Finding out he carries a torch for her is a massive shock--and a rush she's not sure how to handle.

With another SEAL unit under attack needing their help, Megan gets too close and the bad guys turn on her. Evan is her only safety, but this enemy is gunning for both of them now, and they need to find out what happened to their friends--fast, before they become the next MIA.

A voluntarily received a copy of Seals of Honor: Evan for an honest review.  The first thing I asked since it is book 8 in a series, is does it read as a stand alone? to which I was told yes. I will agree that the overall book does read as a standalone. However, there are a lot of characters that appear, that obviously had previous books.  So that drove my OCD butt a little wonky, not knowing their back stories.  This story revolves around Evan, a seal (of course) and Megan a helicopter pilot.  I really liked that Megan. She wasn’t your ordinary damsel in distress.  She was very resourceful and able to take care of herself and even sometimes Evan.  I can always appreciate when an author writes a strong woman.   There was a lot of action once the story got rolling and it really didn’t stop.  I just never really understood why they were after Megan, it didn’t make sense to me.  The explanation didn’t fit “real life”.  I know, I know.  This isn’t real life.  However, I have the type of mind that picks apart stories so if I can’t get them to be someone logical in the scope of the story I have issues accepting it.  Overall, I really enjoyed the story and I will be going back and reading the series from the start.  I really want to know what is going on with Ice.

Dale Mayer’s Seals of Honor series is nothing short of spectacular, and this latest book, Seals of Honor: Evan is no different. The unusually close relationships and easy camaraderie between the characters makes this book and this series incredibly entertaining. The characters are so strong, brave, and honest. They completely draw you into the story and you just can't help but become invested in their lives and happiness. Evan is such a good soldier and an even better man. He just needs the chance to prove it to Megan, the woman of his dreams. Megan’s been burned in the past and is unsure of herself and of Evan. Their journey to love, amidst a backdrop of life threatening drama, is truly heartfelt and beautiful. I found this book to be both exciting and enchanting, and I would highly recommend it.
