Description

Ten years ago Ivy Breckenridge’s life was ruined. She had to reinvent herself, and now, after painstakingly making her own way in the world, she’s nearly forgotten the dreams of home and family she’d once nurtured. Until one man peers into her soul and awakens every one of her hidden desires. But no matter how good he makes her feel, she can’t trust him.

With a notorious reputation for training married women in the art of passion, Sebastian Westgate, Duke of Clare, is reviled by some and celebrated by others. He doesn’t allow anyone close enough to see past his charming exterior. When Ivy uncovers the man beneath, the seducer is suddenly the seduced. Enraptured by her mind and spirit, he wants more but revealing his darkest secrets is a price he won’t pay.

The book was alright. It lacked in depth, historical knowledge, and was quite one dimensional.
  • Fiery rebirth.

Companion Ivy Breckenridge is a woman with a mysterious past, even to her closest friends. As the final member of the League of Invincibles to be unmarried, her friends want her to find the same happiness they has all found. Ivy still finds comfort and safety in her unmarried state and finds marriage deplorable. The Duke of Desire, Sebastian Westgate, is a notorious rake with a penchant for affairs with married women. He enjoys the ladies and helps them with their marriages. Both Westgate and Ivy can agree that marriage is not for them, but neither can deny their mutual attraction to each other. In the fourth Untouchables book, we finally learn about Ivy's past. She has remade herself from a terrible, tragic, past. I could not put this one down. IT is by far the best book in the series. I'm curious, though, to see if the League of Invincibles will add to their numbers. Guess I will have to wait for The Duke of Defiance to find out. I received an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. I was not compensated for my review, and I was not required to write a positive review. The opinion expressed here is my own.

West and Ivy are both against marriage for their own personal reasons that we learn about as they get to know each other. He is known for his many affairs with married women, so his nickname fits him quite well. But there is so much more to him and the reasons he does what he does - until he meets Ivy at least. Ivy's past has colored her view on men like West, and at first does what she can to avoid him, but little by little, he wears her down. I love the friendship that develops along with the romance, and the chemistry between these two is present from the beginning. It was also great to see characters from the previous books in the series. While not necessary to read them prior to this one, I would recommend them as they are all great. Can't wait for the next book! I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book. I was not compensated for this review, all conclusions are my own.
  • Steamy and seductive

My very favorite of the Untouchable series!! As I mostly read contemporary romance, I sometimes forget just how steamy historicals can be. But Darcy Burke doesn't forget, or disappoint! I adore the strong and resilient Ivy and the devilish and seductive West...they are the perfect pairing. It's the perfect combination of enemies to lovers (she thinks of him as the enemy but he doesn't reciprocate those feelings) and second chance romance. I love the personality Burke injects into all her characters and the dialog between West and Ivy (I'll just say this...the scene on the top of the hill!!!) is as hot, if not hotter, than their physical encounters. I'm still blushing and fanning myself :) For me, it doesn't get any better than Darcy Burke. I could not put it down!! 5 very enthusiastic stars

I really loved this book!!! I'll admit that I'm not that educated on the time period, and I felt West's "occupation" was a bit odd, but I appreciated that it was sort of a "measuring stick" to show how he changed when he met Ivy. I felt lots of emotions for Ivy, and I liked her independence. Her insistence on keeping things proper made the tension between she and West absolutely delicious, and when they were alone together, even in passing, sparks. Lotsa sparks. I especially loved the Blind Man's Bluff scene :) This was the first Darcy book I've read, and it absolutely won't be the last. She did an excellent job of keeping me turning the pages, BEYOND eager to see how everything would get resolved. I really loved this story!!! (I received a copy of this book in consideration of an honest review)
