Description

New York Times and USA Today Best-Selling Paranormal Romance Author Felicity Heaton presents:

Ares (Guardians of Hades Romance Series Book 1)
Prince of the Underworld and Lord of Fire, Ares was banished from his home by his father, Hades, two centuries ago and given a new duty and purpose—to keep our world and his from colliding in a calamity foreseen by the Moirai.

Together with his six brothers, he fights to defend the gates to the Underworld from daemons bent on breaching them and gaining entrance to that forbidden land, striving to protect his home from their dark influence. Caged by the manifestation of his power, held apart from those he loves by his own fire and starved of physical contact, Ares lives a cold existence driven by duty and the desire to return to his world.

Until his world collides with a daemon who steals his power and a mortal female who shatters the ice around his heart and awakens the true fire within him—a soul-stirring passion both dangerous and seductive.

Megan has wandered far from her home, driven from everyone she loves by the devastating realisation that she is different to them all. Unsure who to trust in the world, she keeps to herself, until a fateful stormy night brings a temptingly handsome warrior crashing into her life and into her heart—a warrior who seems to hold powers more frightening and marvellous than her own.

When the New York gate comes under threat, and Ares is put to the test, will he choose his duty and regain the power he needs in order to save his world or will he choose the desires of his heart and sacrifice his fire so he can be with the woman becoming his whole world?

The story sounds great and the characters seems interesting but there’s so much fluff and descriptions it makes for a confusing read. One or two lines of dialog for 5 pages of description…about wet clothes. It had potential and I’ve tried to read it multiple times.

Really good paranormal romance. Parts were boring and could’ve been shortened to make book better. Either that or more dialogue between characters. Still found it to be extremely good. Loved all the brothers characters. I especially want to know Damien’s story.

I love Greek mythology, and this book had so much potential. Sadly it never reached it. The author spend so much time describing what characters are thinking that it’s boring. Honestly the whole book has maybe 5 pages worth of dialogue. I’m not even sure how you can manage to write ~ 300 pages where the characters rarely speak. Just so disappointing. I gave it 2 stars because the grammar errors weren’t horrible, though you can tell from the spelling and verbiage that the author isn’t American (which I don’t mind) but the story is supposed to take place in NYC. so jumper really should be jacket, sweatshirt, etc. tarmac is road or street come on it’s had to get lost in the book when the verbiage contradicts where it’s taking place. So yeah basically I would not recommend this book

I feel like this book was soooo rushed. And sooo Insta-love. Meagan was never really flushed out as a character, we learned so little about her and she didn’t have any chance to grow as a character. The same with Ares. I’m debating wether to try the next book in the series or not waste my money.
  • Fast pace.

Both good series. Ares is one of many sons of Hades & Persephone destined to guard the gateway from Earth to the Underworld, where Ares originates. Each son guards the portal or gateway from demons who havoc too much violence and destruction. Ares never expected a mortal Megan to become his savior. Because who would expect a god with fire power to need help?

Initially I was not sure if I would get into this series . I own many of Felicity Heaton books/series so I will be honest I bought this book because regardless of whether or not I followed the series I knew I would have a good read. I enjoy how each series becomes a world unto itself and the characters are always enjoyable. Ares and Megan are very similar in their fire and the play well against each other. Since this the first in the series it begins you on the journey and begins the mythology of this series. I looking forward to the next book. This book does a very job at setting the stage for the rest of the series as well as giving you a glimpse of the characters hopefully yet to come.
