Vice merchant Maxwell Gideon is wickedly handsome, sinfully arrogant, and devilishly ruthless. Rumor has it, his gaming hell has the power to steal souls and grant miracles. But it’s hard to focus on business matters when a fallen angel tumbles right into one’s lap…

Miss Bryony Grenville has a well-earned reputation as an unrepentant hoyden. But even the gossipiest of the pinch-faced matrons ruling High Society could never imagine the daughter of a baronet secretly financing the ton’s most infamous gambling parlor. Its maddening, sexy proprietor doesn’t suspect a thing… and two can play at temptation!

This is the best Erica Ridley book I’ve read to date. Smartly written—sympathetic yet resilient characters. Loved the humor. The best compliment I can give is—I did not want this story to end.

Lord of Vice is a well-written and captivating historical fiction romance. Maxwell Gideon was the founder of a successful gaming club, The Cloven Hoof. He was also known as the Lord of Vice. And, although, Max was not of noble birth, titled and non-titled gentleman, alike, sought entrance to his establishment. Max enjoyed turning away many of the esteemed nobility who had denied him access to their clubs. Max wanted to expand the establishment, but to do so, he needed to own the deed to the Cloven Hoof. Unfortunately, his secret and silent partner was the one who held that precious document. Max has given several, more-than-fair offers to buy the business, through their liaison, Heath Grenville. But Max’s silent partner did not agree to any of them. Max wasn’t seeking the deed, to boost his ego; he had specific plans, that he wanted to implement. And to do that, he needed to own the business. He also wanted to prove to Polite Society, that they’d been wrong, about him and his family. Max didn’t know that the woman who intrigued him to the point of distraction was the secret partner who had been refusing his proposals. Bryony Grenville, the holder of the deed to The Cloven Hoof, was falling in love with Max Gideon. She was afraid, however, that once he found out who she was, their growing friendship, would die, and her heart would break. I loved the characters, Bryony and Max. They were both intelligent, opinionated, and kind. I found their witty banter humorous, and their relationship touching. If you enjoy regency romance, you’ll love, Lord of Vice. Thank you, WebMotion Publishing and NetGalley, for my advanced review copy.

Went from a really funny, interesting book to cheesy, sappy, mushy writing that had a rushed ending with all set to rights. So disappointing.

Bryony Grenville is the youngest of the Grenville siblings and the only one not married, she is also a gifted violinist and the secret investor in The Cloven Hoof, a gaming hell owned by Maxwell Gideon, the Lord of Vice. Max very much wants to buy out his silent partner, but doesn’t know who he is. He is about to find out who she is and that is where the fun begins. Max and Bryony’s story is as unlikely and unconventional as those of her siblings and their spouses. These two are stubborn, both good at business, and made for each other. The story moves quickly and has some surprises, mostly for Max. The banter between the two main characters is great – witty, humorous, and snarky. The Grenville siblings are great. They accept Max without question, Mama, not so much. Can these two stubborn people overcome Mama’s objections? How will they settle their business disagreement? The solution might surprise you. I enjoyed this story and recommend it and the rest of books in this series.

Entertaining from beginning to end, Lord of Vice captured my romantic heart. Maxwell Gideon is everything a women might want. Sinfully handsome, it seems he can make good things happen to those in need as he runs the Cloven Hoof, a gambling establishment. He only owns half and does not really know who owns the other. But when he meets up with Miss Bryony Grenville, he is in for a surprise! Silently owning half of the Hoof, she is an intelligent business savvy women! When these two get together, the chemistry is off the charts and it is fun to see the the interaction between the two and how their romance develops! Another amazing story from Erica Ridley in the Rouges to Riches series. It is always fun to see past characters come back and interact, although this can be read as a stand alone book! But trust me, you will want to read them all! This book was gifted to me.

Bryony, who is the daughter of a Baron, has a quick mind and sharp instincts in regards to business ventures that she has honed over the years due to her sneaking into her father’s study and reading the financial section of the newspaper. One of her secret business investments is in the gentlemen’s club the Cloven Hoof, procured by her brother, and Max, the owner, is not aware that his silent partner is a woman. Bryony, dressed as a lad, sneaks out of the house and goes to the club and is caught by Max. He comes to learn that she is very intelligent and is helping make some significant recommendations to the running of the club which are improving profits. The banter between the two of them is extremely well written and a lot of the times comical. Along the way she falls for Max and this just adds to the story. This is a great story that is well written and highly entertaining. I would highly recommend this book as a great read.
