Description

From USA Today bestselling author, Leslie Langtry comes another hilarious Merry Wrath Mystery...

For ex-CIA Agent turned Girl Scout troop leader, Merry Wrath, planning a wedding is infinitely more terrifying than the time she was a mole in Carlos the Armadillo’s drug cartel. To make matters worse, while plagued by insomnia (brought on by diabolical details that include bizarre things like "boutonnieres") Merry and her cat, Philby, witness a midnight murder next door.

Or do they? With her record of sleeplessness, everyone from her fiancé, Rex, to her Girl Scout troop are questioning her sanity. And when strange incidents of arson start popping up all over Who’s There, Iowa and a mysterious woman vanishes, Merry begins to believe her neighbors are foreign spies.

Throw in meeting her fiancé’s odd twin sisters, late night visits with Mr. Fancy Pants—the King Vulture at the zoo—and a scary sleep study, and Merry wonders if she’s in danger of losing her mind…or her life.

Before she was Girl Scout troop leader Merry Wrath, she was Finn Czrygy, covert CIA agent and the daughter of a prominent senator. A vengeful politician outted her secret identity, but living in Who’s There, Iowa has turned out to be one of the best things that could have happened to her. Merry is now engaged to Detective Rex Ferguson, but as much as she loves him she finds herself unable to sleep and putting off wedding plans as much as possible. Her insomnia is why everyone thinks that her witnessing the new neighbors hauling a body around was a hallucination, but this experienced operative isn’t about to let the matter go. Of course, she will spend just as much effort discovering why Rex has been so secretive about his own family, whom Merry has yet to meet and is determined to remedy that factor. This is an absolutely delightful romp of a mystery that has as much action and intrigue as it does laugh-out-loud moments. Rex’s sisters’ are definitely unique, but that can’t compare to the antics of Merry’s politically “woke” girl scout activists. Their political correctness when selecting a nation to represent is hilarious, and Merry will be as tested in her investigations as she will be in preventing a revolution. Merry’s former partner arrives to confuse her emotions, which are already in disarray and filled with wedding duties. Highly original and full of suspense and humor, this is fun mystery that remains believable through its highly trained and skilled heroine.

Leslie Langtry’s books have never disappointed and whether it’s a Merry Wrath book, the Bombay family of assassins, or an Aloha Lagoon I’m always looking forward to the next book.
