Description

I never thought I’d see her again.

We shared one hot night together back in college before our paths took us in different directions.

But now, the most brilliant and beautiful woman I’ve ever met is back in my life. And the chemistry I remember? It’s more combustible than ever.

Except… our fling is forbidden and must exist only in secret. Her rules, not mine.

I can’t be her forever. I’m not that guy, and even she knows it.

But I can’t stay away from her either. I’m determined to claim not just her body but her heart, even if that’s the one thing she’s vowed not to give me.

What a start to this series from Kendall Ryan. This book introduces us to the hockey team Boston Titans and their new owner Eden. After her grandfather passed away, she inherits the hockey team and the drama that comes with it. Some people feel a woman shouldn’t head the team. Another issue is that her ex boyfriend is a new player on the team. The up side to the drama is that it brings Holt into her life as her new head of security. Holt and Eden actually knew each other in college and had one steamy hook up. Holt always liked Eden but as a loner enrolled on scholarship he felt she was too out of his league and never pursued anything beyond that one night. Now six years later they have been reunited and all the feelings come rushing back. I was upset with Eden at the beginning of the book because Holt was obviously a better choice than Alex. However she was young and insecure and made the wrong choice. I loved their reconnection. I also adored Holt!! He was everything she needed and more!! I loved their story so much!! I can’t wait to see what comes for them as the series goes on and focuses on other characters. I received a copy of this book via Booksprout and I am voluntarily leaving a review.

I liked the book overall. Yet, There were moments where I felt it dragged on a bit. The climax was a bit underwhelming and I felt like the characters were a bit boring.

Read the first few chapters, at first the main character appears to be strong and smart and level headed. Then she just ups and does a complete 180 in a totally toxic move (Alex seriously?). Got bored by chapter 5.

This is book one in the Looking to Score series and it features Eden and Holt. They shared one sinfully sexy night in college. Six years later and they haven’t seen each other since that night, he’s been hired as her bodyguard. The sparks are definitely still flying between them. Holt appears to be a super alpha man but when it comes to Eden, it’s almost as if he’s lost his man card. He’s like a sappy,  lovesick teenager. She acts more mature about her feelings for him.  The story line was great. Most of the characters were fantastic. I wish Holt was more manly when it came to any kind of interaction with Eden. There was a lot of information lacking in Alex’s story. I can’t wait to fill in the blanks in book two.
