Description

Are they one late-night hayride away from tumbling back into a very bad idea?

Olivia Minelli needs a one-way ticket out of Pine Harbour. It's too small for both her and her ex-husband. So when a new job falls into her lap, she grabs it with both hands. When this contract is complete, she'll have enough money saved up to leave town for good. Which means settling some unresolved business with the only man she's ever truly loved, once and for all.

Rafe Minelli knows he won't get a second chance at what he once had with his ex-wife. The demands of his double career—as a police officer and military reservist—were a dealbreaker when they were together. And he's thrilled for her new opportunity. But with it comes a ticking clock deadline that forces both of them to address the smouldering embers of a connection that just won't go away.

They aren't the same young kids who rushed into marriage the first time. But as summer slides into fall, Rafe sets out to prove he's a changed man before he loses her forever. One hayride at a time.

Just could not get into this book. Didn’t find this couple interesting and felt like I knew where Olivia’s second job was headed. Their relationship seemed to be more about sex than being in love with no common interests.

Super awesome second chance love story!!! Olivia and Rafe were so in love until life gets in the way. Miscommunication, fighting and emotional distance are the death nail in their relationship. Or is it. This book is heavy on sweet and heat. Highly recommend

ARC for honest review with no compensation received from Grey’s Promotions 4.5 stars Love in a Small Town is book 1 in the Pine Harbor series by Zoe York. This book was first released in 2014 which I read and loved but this new enhanced story is even better! Rafe and Olivia married young but the demands on Rafe being his job as a policeman and a military reservist ended up being a problem which lead to their divorce. Now Olivia is ready to move on but when she is tasked to be the town’s ambassador everything takes on a new prospective. Can Rafe and Olivia find their way to a love that is stronger, deeper and forever or will it remain like the past...broken? Only time will tell...

I was very intrigued by the blurb of Love in a Small Town by Zoe York and just devoured it once I started it. I love stories about two people fighting for their happily ever after, even after they thought they were already there. Rafe and Olivia Minelli love each other very much, but sometimes love is not enough, right? After six years and a divorce, Olivia knew she needed to move on. Especially when Rafe shows up at her work showing her he is moving on. But is he really? I loved Rafe and Olivia so much. They both grew so much in throughout the story and came to terms with how they acted and were part of what happened between them. When Rafe realizes this could be it for them, he decides she means too much to lose her, but is it too late? What I truly loved is how they both individually and together decided to work on the issues they had in the past and how to be able to work through them as they slowly moved forward. Their story was a slow burn in a way, as they got to know each other again, understand the needs and wants for the other and truly support each other. Their story was sweet and charming and I loved it! Happy reading!

So, here we are, 6 years later, and Love in a Small Town has been given a bit of a makeover. It’s been expanded by a few scenes and edited a little, but nothing has changed the magic of the book. I read it again with fresh eyes, as it’s been a few years since I last enjoyed it. The first scene gutted me...again! But I was immersed in Rafe and Olivia’s struggle to deal with the love they still have for each other, even two years after being divorced. Rafe certainly isn’t perfect, but he’s willing to try to be a better man and listen to Liv’s needs more and put her first. Liv gains more confidence as she takes on new and exciting responsibilities, which help her be more sympathetic to Rafe’s struggles to balance job and family. It’s that willingness to grow that makes them a couple to root for, plus not shying away from their mistakes or taking the blame when it’s warranted. Rafe and Liv were always my favorite couple of the Pine Harbour world, but this updated version and the chance to re-read their love story just reinforces that for me. Kudos to Zoe York for breathing new life into this old favorite!
