Description

Due a few days of R&R, Hudson heads to visit his best friend in Vail, Colorado. The first day, an explosion in his hotel sends the city into chaos. He’s doing what he can to keep Avery safe, as this was no accident. He’s not allowed to join the investigation, but being on the spot and having the training he has are huge benefits. No way will he sit by and do nothing. Especially if Avery is in trouble.

Avery has been looking forward to Hudson’s visit. They are best friends, and she’d love to spend more time with him. Hell, she’d loved him since forever but didn’t want to risk their special friendship by taking the relationship further. Now she regrets it, as the explosion in town is only the tip of the problem—for the terrorist realizes that Hudson caught a glimpse of him.

Now the game of cat and mouse is on, with Avery caught in the middle …

  • Just ok.

Could have been so much better a bit of a disappointment. Story was sort of disjointed, leaves a lot of questions regarding the terrorists. The characters were ok but some of their decisions were very questionable. Hudson’s a Seal but should still work with the law enforcement instead of trying to go off on his own and Avery’s decision to constantly put herself in danger was ridiculous, just kept trying to get herself shot. Annoying.
  • Not my favorite!

This is book 26 in the SEALs of Honor series and it features Hudson and Avery. He and Avery have been best friends through the years, although her feelings for him were much stronger than friendship. It’s time they reevaluate their relationship but they’re afraid to ruin what they do have. The story line is good. The characters are ok. The problem is that both the main character’s actions (mostly Avery’s) are so far out of the realm of possibility that it makes the story less attractive. I know that things happen fast and are exaggerated in books but this is even beyond that.

Hudson meets up a longtime friend for downtime. In the midst of possibilities comes a cascade of events and. violence. The story is a standalone, fast paced even as a romance develops. As always, Dale Mayers held my attention (and every other reader) with each page and each threat. Bravo!! I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
