A Daphne Du Maurier Award For Excellence In Mystery/Romantic Suspense finalist.

When Darby O'Roarke wakes up in a strange house with a dead man - with no memory of what happened - she knows who she has to call: FBI Supervisory Special Agent Eban Winters...the man she fell for, and who rejected her, last summer.

A negotiator isn't supposed to get involved with kidnap victims, and Eban has been trying to avoid the temptation that is Darby O'Roarke ever since they met. One frantic phone call has him racing to Alaska to uncover the truth, but he faces stubborn opposition from the local police, and a growing media frenzy.

Getting Darby released from jail and keeping her safe is his first priority. When another woman is brutally slain, evidence emerges that suggests Darby is being framed, and that the culprit is a vicious serial killer who has eluded the FBI for more than a decade...and, now, the killer has Darby in their sights.

All the books in the Cold Justice® world can be read as standalone novels. Hot romantic stories with thrilling plots and guaranteed happily ever afters, they do contain strong language. For fans of Melinda Leigh, Kendra Elliot, Mary Burton, and Debra Webb.

I have thoroughly enjoyed this entire series so far. The way the author intertwines the lives of the main characters in each book keeps us from wondering “where are they now?” Great reads, the plots are believable and the characters lovable!

Very engaging page turner. I enjoyed learning how a negotiator works. I could use those handy skills in real life so I had great take aways from the book. Lots of mystery clues through out kept the reader pondering who the killer would be. Liked the depth of the main characters and how they each had to wrestle with their own personal issues first before taking that risk to be vulnerable & have the courage to love someone. They had to do their emotional homework in conjunction with the stress of solving a murder & staying ahead of the game. Enjoyed the way author roped in past characters from previous stories to interweave into the current story plot. Hard reading at times when reading about abuse, but life is like that. Great characters, good plot. I don’t know how they all survive running around in below freezing temps. I can’t imagine that. But I suppose the setting was appropriate for this particular story on Darby.

Once again Toni Anderson has crafted an intricate tale of suspense that is set in the frigid Alaskan state and features a couple we met in a previous book and have been rooting for since, Darcy and Evan. Toni’s books are always meticulously researched and have an intricate plot to go with the romantic chemistry between our beleaguered couple. She deals sensitively with a subject that could be challenging and gives insight into healing following trauma. I don’t think Toni is capable of writing anything that I wouldn’t rate five star. Can’t wait for the next one.
  • Fantastic Story

I finished Cold As Ice and said out loud Wow! What a fantastic book!! The reader first met Darby, a PhD student on a remote volcanic island in the Banda Seas studying volcanos, in Colder Than Sin. Darby had been abducted and was found and rescued by Quentin and Haley who were also in danger and running for their lives. In the end, Darby meets Eban a hostage negotiator. Eban and Darcy’s story needed to be told. Darby is now Alaska completing her PhD in volcanology and recovering from her kidnapping trauma. Suddenly she is considered the only suspect in a friends murder. Eban travels to Alaska to assist in finding the killer. Convincing the local detective to do a complete thorough investigation is a real issue until there is a second murder. Is Darby in danger? Why was she framed? A knife yielding murderer is on the loose and there are multiple suspects. The momentum of the investigation is non stop. While searching for the murderer, old friends like BAU’s Lincoln Frazer, Hostage negotiator Quinton Savage and Haley Cramer, CEO of a security firm are encountered offering help and information. Cold As Ice is a stand alone book, but it is nice “to see” familiar faces during the story. I love reading about old friends from previous books. Frequently at the end of a book, I wonder what a character’s life is like afterwards. The Toni Anderson’s Cold Justice books answer those questions. "I voluntarily reviewed an advance copy of this book.”
  • A killer as cold as ice, a romance as hot as the sun…

From page one this mystery draws you in but if you’ve been reading this series you know Darby didn’t kill anyone. Who does she call? The man she calls when her life gets to be too much, her crush of seven months FBI SSA Eban Winters. Their relationship is complicated, he is forbidden from getting involved with someone he rescues, but they spend a lot of virtual time together as “friends “. Can they have more? As we read both POVs their feelings for one another ramp up the angsty emotional part of this story. But it is the nail biting suspense of the ongoing murder case that kept me turning the pages as fast as I could. And the HEA, truly sigh worthy!
