Description

A Regency-set comedic caper featuring a book club of meddling spinsters and an assist by a very good dog.

The closest Miss Philippa York has ever come to adventure is her Thursday afternoon reading circle with her fellow bluestockings of the beau monde. That is, until her bosom friend allows a handsome rake to steal a kiss… and he takes her friend’s jewels instead!

With the help of the Wild Wynchesters—a uniquely talented family of caper-committing siblings who don’t let “laws” stop them from righting wrongs—Philippa and her club of delightfully bookish spinsters take on the most celebrated rake of the ton.

They’re clever. He’s a cad. To save the day, all they need to pull off is one little heist…

PREQUEL TO: THE PERKS OF LOVING A WALLFLOWER

"Erica Ridley is a delight!"
— Julia Quinn, author of BRIDGERTON

Its a prequel and a heist all in one. Yes! She did it. Rubs hands gleefully. A charming romp which introduces the next Winchester and tees up her story. Recommend. 👍🏻

This prequel has a stolen hair clip and a handsome rake. The book club joins the Winchesters this time to solve this puzzle. It’s so fun to watch it all come together and see what all they find out! Full of laughs and excitement.

When the Winchesters, team up with Phillipa’s Thursday reading circle to recover a stolen hair pin, what ensues is a somewhat chaotic, laugh-out-loud romp. The ladies in the reading circle are fascinated at the way the Winchesters plan and carry out the investigation. To them, it is all an exciting adventure. What will happen when the rake who stole the hair pin is confronted? You might be surprised. This is a quick entertaining read with delightful characters that include the Winchester family, a reading circle in search of a name, an Alpine Mastiff, a mongoose, and a meddling social climbing mama. I look forward to the next story in this very enjoyable series. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
