Description

Scorned, penniless, and pregnant, Alex must fight for faith, family, and love.
Alexandra Fisher and Jonathan Dixon meet in a honky-tonk outside of Nashville and instantly share a mutual attraction. Raised Jewish in New England by her wealthy, controlling father who holds her in contempt, Alex learned to comply with any request to keep the peace, even agreeing to marry his ideal candidate for her husband. Georgia construction empire scion Jon accepted a long-term project in Nashville, intending to spend solitary time healing. Very much the prodigal, he realized how far he’s strayed off the path of his traditional Christian upbringing, and worked to repair his relationship with God before returning home to mend fences with his family.
That night, Alex decides to take control of her life while, simultaneously, a horrific news story sends Jon back into a tailspin. After instructing the waitress to keep the drinks coming, they both make bad decisions that result in permanent consequences.
Back home, when Alex stands up to her father, he pulls her trust fund, closes her accounts, applies influence with her employers, and evicts her. Alone, pregnant, and cut off, she can do nothing more than journey to Atlanta, hoping Jon can help.
When Alex discovers Jon is not the blue-collar construction worker she assumed, she feels betrayed. However, his family’s zest for life, love for Christ, and deep respect for each other show her how much was missing from the life she knew. She soon falls in love with Jon, but doesn’t think he’ll believe her. Jon knows he’s fallen for Alex but doesn’t know how to convey the depth of his feelings.
Arriving at a mutual understanding of faith while looking through very different worldviews, they cling to each other, uniting as one, and learn to connect with God. But will family strife and all their baggage destroy their marriage before it even gets off the ground?

Hallee’s characters are always easy to relate to. Jon and Alex face circumstances that have them questioning the God they thought they knew. Through Hallee’s great writing we get to experience their realization that God has been at work in their lives for years and has so much more in store for them.

Alexandra's Appeal by Hallee Bridgeman is a contemporary romance that continues The Dixon Brothers Series. Having read several other stories from this author, I knew what to expect and was not disappointed. I like her style and her honest and redemptive approach to realistic struggles that her characters have. The characters have depth and reality, and their emotions, strengths, and foibles resonate well with readers. This is a story of learning to trust--of coming to the end of pretty much everything one has ever known and having to start anew. It is a story of overcoming past hurts and disappointments and present dilemmas, and, of course, a story of romance. One thing I found interesting is the references to Messianic Judaism and how Alex and Jon embraced that faith and were strengthened and encouraged by it. Included in the book is a suggested luncheon menu for a group discussion with recipes included as well. The author also added a list of questions for that group discussion. Readers who enjoy contemporary romance with strong themes of family and faith will not want to miss Alexandra's Appeal. I received a complimentary copy of the book, and a favorable review was not required. The opinions are my own.

I didn’t expect to like Alex as much as I did. Even though she has very different life experiences than me I was able to relate to her so much. Her story is amazing and the way they are able to turn their story around is great. If you love real characters with real flaws, you will love The Dixon Brothers books.

Wow, wow, wow. I can’t say enough positive things about this book. Yes it’s clean romance but it’s so much more. The characters are deeply flawed but find redemption. The surrounding story makes my heart hurt on several levels. The author walks us through Messianic Judaism which is fascinating and intriguing. The Dixon family is still a lovely group of people with money but prefer to work hard and accomplish great things. A love story from shaky beginnings and a happily ever after...with bumps along the way. And not just little bumps but the bumps if not addressed will end a relationship. Depth is the word to describe this book. The story has so much depth. What a pleasure to read.

Hallee does a wonderful job of incorporating situations in her book that some Christian authors avoid. Her Christian characters are far from perfect, making them come alive instead of being flat caricatures. I love how she weaves themes of repentance, forgiveness, and grace through the story of Alexandra’s Appeal. I usually avoid Christian romance books because they tend to be too sappy for me, but I always make an exception for Hallee’s books because they are a beautiful blend of reality and feel-good romance.

Alexandra and Jonathan meet in a honkytonk and make all the stereotypical responses even though they can’t deny their attraction to each other. Then they meet in a completely different environment. Which persona is the real one? Can they still trust their instincts? You’ll love this story about two very different people trying to come to terms with who they are and what they want out of life.

This was my favorite of the Dixon Brothers. The characters were true-to-life as were the situations they encountered. It was a very satisfying read without easy solutions that eliminated tension or choices devoid of consequences.

Hallee Bridgeman is one of my favorite authors. I’ve read every book she has ever written, and Alexandra’s Appeal is one of my all-time favorites. The main characters, Jon and Alexandra, were typical, not perfect people who made some mistakes and accepted the consequences. I love how they interacted with each other as they developed their relationship and worked through difficult decisions. I loved getting to know them as their delightful personalities came alive in the pages of the book.
