Description

Veteran player Gage Heyward retired from the league following a successful career. Now the Titans need him, but does he have what it takes to get back on the ice and pull this team together?

After achieving the goals I set for myself, I walked away from my professional hockey career. It was a tough decision, but the right one at the time. When the Titans organization approached me about joining the team they were rebuilding following a devastating plane crash, I felt a passion for the game and a competitive spirit I hadn’t felt in years. The opportunity to make a huge difference to a lot of people spoke to me, and I accepted their offer and headed to Pittsburgh without a second thought.

Jenna Holland is also new to town, having moved from Phoenix to Pittsburgh to take a job with the Titans. Her past has left her with scars—both physical and emotional—and she’s slow to trust others. But the more I learn about Jenna, the more I want to know. The more I need to know. Because the beautiful blonde with honey gold eyes and a wall around her heart has me enamored.

My game on the ice is the best it’s ever been, but it’s my game off the ice I’m focused on these days. Because while Jenna may not be willing to take a chance, I know the potential is there for something big. Something life changing. Now I just need to convince her to take the shot.

Both narrators did a good job! A nice listen and a quality recording. Enjoyed the dynamic and chemistry between Jenna and Gage! I’m really liking the set up for this series; the needing to build a new team from the ground up because of a horrible accident happening to the previous hockey team, I find it interesting how the characters rise above difficult circumstances. Gage hasn’t been playing professional hockey for a while now, but the new hockey team needs him, so he steps up. Gage was great; liked how supportive he is of Jenna, he’s a good guy and fit for Jenna. Liked Jenna too; a little less insecurity and owning her scars would’ve been good, but she’s a tough lady. A sweet couple! Looking forward to the other player’s books!

I like Sawyer Bennett’s hockey series, and pre-ordered this book with anticipation. Generally, it was written to the standard I expect from the author, but the ending felt a little too rushed. Gage is a great guy, but Jenna seemed to get over her insecurities rather swifty, after being a mental mess for 90% of the book, just because they had some great sex.

FLIPPING PHENOMENAL!!! Gage Heyward has stolen my heart and very possibly moved Baden out of my top spot as favorite character in this phenomenal series!!! I am a “Yinzer”, born and raised in Pittsburgher. When I heard that Sawyer Bennett was going to locate her newest series in my beautiful city, I was ecstatic!! I was quite upset she had to kill off my hockey team to do it, I still knew I wanted to read this series!! You see, I love Ms. Bennett’s books. She, in my opinion, is one of the best romance writers out there, and I know when one of her books hits my Kindle, I know from experience, that I am not going to move for a few hours!! Her books are just that great. Oh, my goodness, Gage and Jenna, their story, I am having trouble putting my thoughts into words, I just loved them so much. My heart just melts the way Gage sees people, always the good in them. The way he understands them and what they are going through. The way he SEES Jenna, the strong person that she is. Gage understands people. He has a way of understanding how they tick. Jenna is a bit broken emotionally. She is a hero in her own right, but her heroic act almost cost her, her very life when she saved Chelsey from that fire. She definitely has both emotional and physical scars from that day. The way I look at it, she is WAY better without Paul, and phenomenally better with Gage. Okay, I love, Love, LOVE this whole book. Put it this way, I have read it once, listened to it fully twice (yes I have the Audible version as well), currently listening for the third time, I love it so much. However, there is one particular spot where I started… STOP, I cannot give anything away. Sorry Readers. The narrators Lance Greenfield and Virginia Rose do a phenomenal job performing this book. They, and Ms. Bennett, brought me to tears a number of times. They brought the story further to life for me. Kudos Mr. Greenfield and Ms. Rose. Thank you, Ms. Bennett, for sharing your wonderful talents with your readers. Your books do it for me EVERY time I read or listen to one. I was gifted with a copy of this OUTSTANDING book because of my love of reading romance, and for my opinions regarding the book. If I could rate this book ten thousand stars I definitely would. It is just that great. Thank you for reading my review. Go hit that purchase button from your favorite retailer, you WILL love this book. My very last comment: NA NA NA NA, NA NA NA NA, HEY HEY, GOOD BYE!!!! Snicker, snicker!!! Read the series, you will understand. LOL!!!

Gage Heyward stepped away from professional hockey after achieving all his goals. Then he’s presented with the opportunity to return to hockey to help rebuild The Titans hockey team after a devastating plane crash killed all, but a few teammates. Challenge accepted! He’s not in it long-term, for fame or even money, but feels as though he can help build The Titans team. Meeting Jenna is an added benefit. Jenna Holland moved to Pittsburgh to take a position within the Titans association, but also to step outside her comfort zone. Jenna was badly burned, scarred, and dumped by her boyfriend due to her scars. She has trust, abandonment issues that run deep. Working closely with Brienne, owner of the Titans, she’s been tasked with working with the media to produce a film documenting the crash, the aftermath, and the rebuilding of the Titans. As frightening as it is, she’s afraid she’ll withdraw and not be able to finish the job. Then she meets Gage… I absolutely loved Gage and Jenna’s story! Gage has the patience, kindness, and understanding of a Saint. While he’s supportive, uplifting, and kind…he’s also direct and intentional with his words. He’s not hurtful or unkind. I love how he gently nudges Jenna to become her true self. While Jenna is brave and strong, she tends to let fears guide her. Once she decides she doesn’t care what others think, she can begin to truly love who she’s becoming. Loved it! Sawyer Bennett does NOT disappoint! I read a gifted copy and all opinions stated are my own.

Gage is Book #3 of the Pittsburgh Titans series by Sawyer Bennett. This is Gage Heyward and Jenna Holland’s story and it is one you don’t want to miss. Gage took me totally by surprise and filled me “To the Brim”. I honestly can’t get enough of hockey romance stories and this one is jam packed with feelings, love, charm and great camaraderie. Gage Heyward had hung up his skates for good after retiring from his professional hockey career. But when the Pittsburgh Titans organization approaches him about joining the team they were rebuilding after a devastating plane crash, he suddenly finds himself, with a passion for the game he hadn’t felt in years. As the oldest member of the team he hoping to bring this team together. But he never imagined that his game off the ice is what would count the most after he meets her. Jenna has just started working with the Pittsburgh Titans after moving from Phoenix to work in the media sector for the organization. These two meet, when Gage shows up to help move her in, and let’s just say he leaves a lasting impression. Jenna has been hiding away from everyone, since a fire left her scarred emotionally and physically. These two are simply perfect for each other. Loved watching these two become friends and then so much more. Gage brings it, and helps Jenna see just how beautiful she is inside and out to him. Their journey is one you don’t want to miss!

I’m really enjoying this series and with each release it’s getting better and better! I loved reading this story and watching these two characters find each other. Because you can tell right away that they were just made for each other. They both need healing but in different ways. They give and take exactly what’s needed to progress and grow and become a better version of themselves. Add in the steam and it’s the perfect love story. You can’t go wrong with this as your next beach read!

This is an awesome series but in this story we get to see the Arizona Vengeance players a bit more because Jenna is a character that was introduced in that series in the book Jett. With that said this book also easily stands alone. When Baden gets a job in Pittsburg with the Titans in the first book in the series, he recommends her Jenna for admin and in this story she now works for the team. One of the older players hired is Gage and he is a total sweetheart. Jenna was burned in a fire and has scarring on her face and body. Gage when he first meets her is not prepared and so he does not have the greatest reaction which Jenna sees. But he actually apologizes which was just so sweet and awesome and made me love him even more. He and Jenna end up spending time together when she is assigned to work on a documentary about the newly formed team. He is crushing on her and I loved watching how he tries to flirt and grab her attention while playing it cool. These two are such great people and characters. They both have great families and great hearts and I loved watching them get to know each other and fall hard for each other. I adored watching them flirt and Gage try to go slow because he doesn't want to screw anything up with Jenna. This is a slow burn romance and at times I felt Gage took it too slow. But I also loved that he is so into Jenna that he is afraid of screwing things up and I loved how he gets advice from his friends and family about how Jenna must be feeling. This is a feel good book and one of my new favorites in this series and by this author. It made me laugh, sign and even cry some happy tears. Jenna is such an awesome character and I have loved her since she was introduced so it was awesome seeing her happy and falling for such a great guy. I received a complimentary early release copy of this e-book from the author prior to release and am voluntarily leaving a review.
