This read something like a Wattpad novel. The intimacy scenes were flat, fast and horny as if the MMC was a frat bro and the FMC was some bubblegum brain stereotype.

    - Realistic emotions/thoughts of the characters - 🌶: 4/5 Smut read - Consuming and intense attraction - Dual POV’s - Witty /humorous flirting - Festive/seasonal - Age gap between lovers The Fall of Us was an easy read. This is the first book I’ve read by Kennedy Fox and I am not disappointed. I was immediately hooked, it’s easy to get into. Finn’s character was irritating at first, meanwhile Oakley has been a cool and sweet person the entire book. They are perfect for each other. The ending is easy to predict.

In the interest of full disclosure I hated the hero at the beginning of the book. He was an extra special jerk that I wanted to jump inside the book and smack him silly. Eventually his attitude improved and I slowly forgave him. Overall it was a sweet spicy story that I came to really enjoy. Oakley is a great heroine and the love story was beautiful. Once the hero got over his attitude problem I really enjoyed the story. The last half of to story made it hard to walk away from. Would recommend just be aware that you will probably want to punch the hero in the teeth at the beginning but it gets better and you do eventually fall in love with him.

This is a fabulous addition to the “Love in Isolation” series, Kennedy Fox never ceases to amaze me with their impressive writing skills and creative minds. Each book in this series stands on its own, but I recommend them all since each one is just as wonderful as the other. This fifth book is Finn and Oakley’s story, Oakley is Tatum’s sister from “The Heart of Us”. I adored the two lead characters, Mr. Grumpy and Miss Sunshine, gets under his skin in no time at all, the secondary characters are also amazing. Oakley is an artist who lives in California, the owners of Bennett Orchard Farm in Vermont commissioned her to paint a portrait capturing the essence of the farm. It was all arranged, she flew into Vermont and they sent someone to pick her up, not the friendliest person, but he got her to the farm. The owners, Willa and James, greeted her at the Inn and have a cabin for her to stay and work in. Their grandson Finn will show her around the farm the next day. She was excited about meeting Finn, but the excitement did not last when they told her she had already met him and that he was the one who picked her up, Mr. Grumpy. OMG, the two together were like oil and vinegar, but she did not let his grumpiness get to her, but she sure got to him. There was a festival coming, and they were expecting crowds, though Finn was not expecting his ex-girlfriend, Aspen, to come to help and seeing her again had him off balanced, so he introduced Oakley as his girlfriend. Oakley saw his distress and went along with it, even offering to give up her cabin and stay with Finn, who had no choice but to go with it. I loved how everything played out in this book, it is a beautifully plotted story with a perfect balance of drama, heartwarming and charming humor, heartfelt emotions, and some steamy romance. Kennedy Fox, thank you for another fabulous story and emotional rollercoaster ride. 🎧📚🎧 And for the wonderful narration, Andi Arndt and Aiden Snow are superbly talented narrators and versatile voice artists. They had a complete understanding of the characters they were portraying, gave each a voice that fit the character’s persona and was believable in every role they played. Arndt grasped every side of Oakley’s personality, her confidence and sunny disposition, while Snow’s Finn was the perfect grump and showed his caring side too. Both were fabulous performing the roles of the secondary characters as well. They set the perfect tone for the story, captured all the character’s emotions and projected them into their performance and had you feeling every single one. These entertaining storytellers are a pleasure to listen to and their narration enhances an already fabulous story to another level. Thank you for another exceptional listen.

This book is a great read if you are looking for age gap, opposites attract, fake relationship with some drama mixed in. These authors have done it again with this book- making you want to sit down and read it in one go. It’s a fun and easy but well written read.

Having read and loved other books and series by this dynamic writing duo, I am jumping into the Love in Isolation series towards the middle (or maybe nearer the end?) And now I'm wondering what took me so long! Grumpy meets sunshine has probably become my favorite trope in the last 6-9 months or so. Especially when the grump is an "older", sexy, silent outdoors/blue collar kind of guy. Finn hits every one of those marks and more. Oakley is this sweet, sassy, chatty, artsy gal who's delighted to be Vermont to paint a landscape of Finn's family farm. These two couldn't be more different but dang, they are fantastic together. She's not about to let him run her off or ruin her fun and their banter is freaking fantastic. Every secondary character just adds to the Hallmark-like charm of this small town. And as a New Englander myself, I love how that spirit was captured between the pages of this book. Don't tell the others, but this might very well be my favorite Kennedy Fox book! Of course, I'll need to test that theory with the previous Love in Isolation books. As well as whatever they write next. It's a touch job, but one I'm more than willing to take on indefinitely!
  • So excited for Oakley’s story!

So excited for Oakley’s story! After getting to know a little about her in a previous installment in this series, I was so excited to see what she would get into given her personality and style, and these authors did not disappoint! Oakley travels to Vermont to create a custom piece of art for Finn’s grandparents and their farm. Finn is not very happy with the fact that he has to cart Oakley around and babysit her, especially because he still has his normal jobs and duties to do as well. In the beginning, these two fight like cats and dogs and don’t get along at all – it’s like those people who are so perfect for each other that they repel each other, until they both reach a breakthrough and end up realizing they need to have one night and be done. Except fate intervenes for these two and they end up having to have a fake relationship of sorts and stay together at Finn’s in order to keep up a charade they find themselves in, until it turns real. I loved the progression of these two and them getting to know each other while falling in love. It was such a great read! I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
