Description

A swoony, small town firefighter romance from USA Today Bestselling Author J.H. Croix!

✔️ A nosy, matchmaking grandmother.
✔️ Meet cute in birthday suit. 😳
✔️ A broody, smokin’ H-O-T hero.
✔️ A brilliant, tomboy heroine.
✔️ A three-legged sweet rescue dog.
✔️ Plenty of small town shenanigans.

Alice

I didn’t mean for the whole wedding party to see me skinny dipping.

That’s how I met Jonah, my new, way too hot for my sanity neighbor.

Jonah

I came to Alaska to escape. I prefer to leave tragedy behind and don’t need anyone reminding me I’m a hero. I’m not. I’m damaged goods and not in the market for romance.

Alice is beyond distracting, and I can’t avoid her. My grandmother thinks we’re fated for each other. While I’m busy trying to ignore my grandmother’s matchmaking, I make the mistake of kissing Alice. My willpower burns to the ground in a matter of seconds.

Jonah & Alice’s story is perfect for readers who love small town romance, hotshot firefighters, smart & sassy heroines, nosy friends and relatives, slow burn, emotional romance with a dash of angst, oozing with swoon, and one smokin’ hot broody hero.

*A full-length, standalone romance.

  • Not as good as her other work

Her extreme focus on school shootings was really exhausting. I usually love her books but she kept having the characters state false information as “fact” when the leading cause of death in children is still abnormalities, but the numbers she uses leave out those children’s deaths and also include deaths up through age 19, if I remember correctly. When In reality most of these deaths are coming from older kids and young adults and often relates to gang crime In cities where the government never does enough to help uplift the poor neighborhoods. Yes school shootings are horrific, but also our society has a lot of problems to fix that are being ignored while pretending a gun is the culprit. It’s exhausting and ignores all of the crimes that lawful gun owners stop. Yes children should be protected and yes I would love to see that that gruesome crime never happens again, but the book just pedaled a bunch of lame talking points that twist data to fit their narrative and doesn’t even help solve the issues. The issue is the messed up kid that could ever consider taking anyones life. How can someone ever get to that point?! Or the fact that childhood suicide is on the rise. Clearly there is a huge issue and the gun is only a tool used to carry out a crime. The UK I believe is looking to ban knives now because there unfortunately will still be bad people doing bad things. I kinda enjoyed the story but it really did make it hard to enjoy while this narrative was being pushed so hard.

A story which feels realistic and believable in its telling of a romance which blooms between two likable characters who are not looking for love but it finds them anyway. The story was a beautifully written romance with plenty of heart.

I voluntarily read an arc of this book and am leaving an honest review. This book starts out so good and just keeps gaining momentum. The romance between Alice and Swoony Jonah will keep you invested and rooting for this couple. Alice, living alone in a home behind Jonah’s ailing and yet kick butt grandma, who I absolutely love! What a character! She drags these two together kicking and screaming but the screaming is what you’ll love lol. This is yet another addictive, romantic, hotshot firefighter love story.

Back again in the small town of Willow Brook, we have Alice and Jonah. This book can be read as a standalone, but we get to revisit the previous characters from the stories which I loved. We got to meet Alice right off when she decided to go skinny dipping on her dock which happened to be during Jonah grandma’s wedding reception across the lake. Yes, it was noticeable. This book tackles a lot of heavy things. They are done nicely, but there are TW. I won’t give too much away. This is a nice addition to the series and I can’t wait for the next one in the series. I received this ARC through the publisher and I am voluntarily reviewing this book, opinions are my own.

Aw, all the feels. Alice Hall is back, next door to Bea, Jonah’s grandmother (who has cancer). Jonah is instantly attracted to Alice (he saw her dive in sans clothing). He’s been emotionally on ice for four years. Great story. Recommend.

Jonah dying grandmother is playing matchmaker with Alice and Jonah. I love the interactions and the small town romance situations that are throughout this book. This book is well worth reading. I love returning to Willow Brook and getting to catch up with everyone. This book is centered around Alice and Jonah. On his grandmother’s wedding day, Jonah sees Alice as she’s jumping into the cold lake, naked. Dennis and Bea are getting married to enjoy what time Bea has left, since she’s not going to take treatments for her returned cancer. Jonah has taken a position on one of the hotshot firefighter crews. Alice has returned to take over Dr. Dan’s veterinary clinic. Alice and Jonah are neighbors and will be seeing each other around. Neither of them are looking for a relationship, but they can’t deny their chemistry. When Bea asks Alice if Jonah can stay in her spare bedroom while his parents are here, Alice can’t refuse. Grab your copy and see what happens in this beautifully written story. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Jonah and Alice's story was heartwarming, endearing and well written. Jonah is a hot shot firefighter who works in Willow Brook. He grew up in Vancouver, British Columbia and has dual citizenship. He used to be a teacher but after experiencing a tragedy he couldn't go back. He returned to Willow Brook because his grandmother is sick. Alice moved back to Willow Brook to take over the veterinary clinic. Her parents died in a boating accident while out fishing in the ocean. She left her last job because of an employee. She reported the issue to the HR Department but nothing was done about it. I absolutely loved Jonah and Alice together. Bea is Jonah's grandmother who is a hoot and very feisty. I liked getting to hear updates of other characters from previous books in the series. This book is one you will definitely remember from the lake scene, the getting caught by Grandma Bea and so many more

I volunteered to review an Advance Reader Copy of this book. Once again JC Croix has brought us back to the town of Willow Brook. Her descriptions are so creative I can picture the quaint little town and feel right at home. Her character descriptions are so good I can picture Alice, Jonah and Gram. I just love reading Croix’s books. They leave me with a warm happy feeling. If you haven’t read any of the books in this series don’t worry you will be introduced to the towns-people and will not be lost.
