Description

Mix 1 oz. Chelsea Handler, 1.5 oz. Nora Ephron, finish with a twist of Tina Fey, and you get Ali in Wonderland, the uproarious, revealing, and heartfelt memoir from acclaimed actress and comedian Ali Wentworth. Whether spilling secrets about her quintessentially WASPy upbringing (and her delicious rebellion against it), reminiscing about her Seinfeld “Schmoopie” days and her appearances on The Oprah Winfrey Show, The View, and The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, or baring the details of starting a family alongside husband George Stephanopoulos, one thing is for sure—Ali has the unsurpassable humor and warmth of a born storyteller with a story to tell: the quirky, flavorful, surprising, and sometimes scandalous Ali in Wonderland.
“Ali Wentworth is funny and warm and crazy all at once. Like Barbara Eden. But on something. Like crystal meth.” —Alec Baldwin

I've seen Miss Ali on Oprah, GMA, etc. OMGOSH! I loved this book. It's an easy read (2 days for me). The stories and experiences have truly shaped this hilarious chick into who she is. That George is one lucky man. Ali is beautiful, crazy fun!

This book could have garnered three stars. The writing style is fluid and this book is very easy to read. It starts with the promise it will be enjoyable like all of Ms. Wentworth's performances. However, the author got full of herself and did not draw out many of the incidents to either full comedy or poignancy. Autobiographies, by nature, tend to be narcissistic, but this author resorts to name-dropping and self aggrandizement. What appears to be a privileged life with more than average opportunities for great potential, Ms. Wentworth fails make any point other than life is easy. The book becomes static disjointed which disappointed me before I even finished it.

I love Ali and am fascinated with her marriage to George who seems so straight laced. My husband is also a closet comedian and we appear to be opposites as well, but humor is sexy!

If you can't stop laughing while you read in bed at 4:45 AM, you know the book is really good. Ali ties us up in giggles and LOL at boarding school, boys, early adult coping & loving family life. Hated to finish it.

This was my first ebook purchase. Great vacation book! I'm a 58 year old woman who has spent lots of time in DC, even seeing Ali at Whole Foods a couple times. I love her story and I am so glad she wrote it down. She is a true diamond in the rough!

I initially bought this book because I am a fan of George Stephanopoulos and like his work on Good Morning America. I was entertained throughout the entire book, admiring the courage of Ms. Wentworth for being unflinchingly honest, while maintaing her humor. I especially enjoyed the peeks into life in Washington DC. I am recommending this book to everyone.

It was funny but read more like a comedy sketch then a book. Not as well written as one would hope.
