Description

The man behind the Real Housewives writes about his lifelong love affair with pop culture that brought him from the suburbs of St. Louis to his own television show

From a young age, Andy Cohen knew one thing: He loved television. Not in the way that most kids do, but in an irrepressible, all-consuming, I-want-to-climb-inside-the-tube kind of way. And climb inside he did. Now presiding over Bravo's reality TV empire, he started out as an overly talkative pop culture obsessive, devoted to Charlie's Angels and All My Children and to his mother, who received daily letters from Andy at summer camp, usually reminding her to tape the soaps. In retrospect, it's hard to believe that everyone didn't know that Andy was gay; still, he remained in the closet until college. Finally out, he embarked on making a career out of his passion for television.

The journey begins with Andy interviewing his all-time idol Susan Lucci for his college newspaper and ends with him in a job where he has a hand in creating today's celebrity icons. In the witty, no-holds-barred style of his show Watch What Happens Live, Andy tells tales of absurd mishaps during his ten years at CBS News, hilarious encounters with the heroes and heroines of his youth, and the real stories behind The Real Housewives. Dishy, funny, and full of heart, Most Talkative provides a one-of-a-kind glimpse into the world of television, from a fan who grew up watching the screen and is now inside it, both making shows and hosting his own.

Reading this book is like actually being with him instead if imagining being there. Real life only funny. Loved the exploits with Susan Lucci and Grac, Evelyn and Lou... Great read, over too soon like all good books, you just don't want the good ones to end... Andy, be my friend?

Firstly, I must say that I love, love, love Andy Cohen! If I am truly honest, I read this book, simply, because I have always wanted to be besties with Andy! I have often thought that he would be so fun and hilarious to hang out with. This book proved me right! It was not only filled with wonderful pop culture commentary, but his writing style is authentic, down-to earth, honest, funny, with just the right touch of making fun - and fun of himself - and a sweet and gentle vulnerability. It was also fascinating to learn more about his career, in his early years, and was like a window, into programming news, as well as the deliciously trashy Housewives franchise. I highly recommend this book - well written, relatable, and highly entertaining! Andy, if you are reading this: You are MY Susan Lucci!!! (You will have to read the book to learn more about this reference).

How or why I waited so long to read Andy's book is something I can't explain. As a fan of all things Bravo and being in love with the charming AC, I was absolutely giddy reading this book. I could hear Andy's voice and intonation throughout. A fun summer read that doesn't disappoint. On vacation with my extended family, I would sometimes slip away to do a little quiet reading. Yeah, right. I was always busted- my giggles gave me away every time.

Andy's honesty and self-deprecating, "everyperson" perspective was unexpected. A fun glimpse inside.

This book simply made me love Andy even more then I already did. It gave me insight to his humility and self depreciating character that I readily see every night he's on WWHL.He's my Susan Lucci! Although we've never met, I'm sure I'd flop sweat if we did.

Andy Cohen's book paints a portrait of a man who is just as kind, funny & endearing as the guy we see on WWHL. This book is a great collection of insider stories from TV news to reality drama. The best stories stem from his family times and I love the vision I get of his family & friends. And his poignant memories of his struggles in regards to his sexuality is told with humor & heart. I hope I offer as safe an environment for my grandson when he comes out as Andy had when telling his family & friends. It shows that if you surround yourself with the right people, you will find a 'revelation' such as that not as big of a deal to those you tell. Thank you for sharing it with us, Andy. Great book!! Highly recommended.
