Description

Roger and Carolyn Perron purchased the home of their dreams and eventual nightmares in December of 1970. The Arnold Estate, located just beyond the village of Harrisville, Rhode Island seemed the idyllic setting in which to raise a family. The couple unwittingly moved their five young daughters into the ancient and mysterious farmhouse. Secrets were kept and then revealed within a space shared by mortal and immortal alike. Time suddenly became irrelevant; fractured by spirits making their presence known then dispersing into the ether. The house is a portal to the past and a passage to the future. This is a sacred story of spiritual enlightenment, told some thirty years hence. The family is now somewhat less reticent to divulge a closely-guarded experience. Their odyssey is chronicled by the eldest sibling and is an unabridged account of a supernatural excursion. Ed and Lorraine Warren investigated this haunting in a futile attempt to intervene on their behalf. They consider the Perron family saga to be one of the most compelling and significant of a famously ghost-storied career as paranormal researchers. During a séance gone horribly wrong, they unleashed an unholy hostess; the spirit called Bathsheba…a God-forsaken soul. Perceiving herself to be mistress of the house, she did not appreciate the competition. Carolyn had long been under siege; overt threats issued in the form of fire…a mother’s greatest fear. It transformed the woman in unimaginable ways. After nearly a decade the family left a once beloved home behind though it will never leave them, as each remains haunted by a memory. This tale is an inspiring testament to the resilience of the human spirit on a pathway of discovery: an eternal journey for the living and the dead.

This book is LONG LONG. I have always enjoyed reading and became interested in the Perron family after hearing about the conjuring. However, the author is very wordy and inserts a LOT of unnecessary fluff into the book. I would say it’s definitely still worth the read but not if you just want your stereotypical ghost story because this will definitely take you on an intellectual journey for several days.
  • Super interesting. Supernatural.

Confusing at first. It’s not a normal read for me. It’s a collection of thoughts and memories. There’s no timeline. Jumping back and forth through time (memories). After a little time, you get used to the way it’s written. What kept me reading this book, was knowing that it’s a true story. This family went through all of these things. I’m excited to finish reading the trilogy.

Of course after seeing the Conjuring, and saw in the opening credits that it was based off a true story, I immediately became overly intrigued! Although- the movie doesn't nearly justify the real story. Andrea's writing is simply beautiful. A god given gift. Presumably to share this both fascinating and terrifying experience. I am obviously not a skeptical. I could not put it down! I cannot wait to read the next two volumes!!

This book is very compelling. It kept my interest all the way to the end. Some parts are very disconcerting and should not be read alone if you are susceptible to shudders and shivers. I am looking forward to reading the second book in this trilogy with great anticipation.

More than ghost stories, a philosophical look in to time and universe theory. Very well written, great story though a bit long winded at times. Also has the tendency to repeat itself.

I finished this volume in three days. Yes, it bounces around a lot, but overall, I found the story to be just as interesting as the film. Even more so because it is based on a true account of someone in the family who lived through it. I can understand why the order is not chronological as this is over thirty years of memories the Author is trying to reveal from several different sources. I enjoyed the book. Considering this her first book I can cut her some slack!
  • I Really Wanted To Like This Book

I would usually finish a book I've started even if I find it a little boring, in hopes it will get better. This book however, is unreadable. I find myself skimming through it, rather than reading it. I can't get through the author's rambling, long and outdrawn metaphors and ideologies, yet just when I think she'll finally get to "the meat" of their story and "ghost encounters"... that's where she becomes vague?? I don't think I'll be finishing this one. I'm sure the Perron family's story is an incredible one but unfortunately, this book has failed to portray it.

This book is well worth 3.99. Not only is it the true story of the movie " The Conjuring" ( which I am a huge fan of btw) but it is an inspiring book about a family and there paranormal occurrences. I think Andrea Perron did a great job and i am happy to say it is my favorite book.

There is nothing natural about living with sprits at unrest. They may not know their want to move on. Spirits or demons such as Bathsheba will always long for its that farmhouse inhabitants unfortunately. Moving on to the read our dear author desperately needs an editor. There was allot of repetition and disarray. She probably should have thought things out a bit more first. Going back forward then forward and back them repeating. Anyway all the best to her.
