"I would like to express my complete excitement in working with your program. The comprehension and retention of content with the students has skyrocketed, and the feedback from kids and parents has been very positive. With my Flipped Classroom, I am no longer a teacher that stands at the front of the room lecturing 'to' my students while they sit. I now work 'with' my students while they 'do.' I am very proud of just how much they have learned this year."
Tenae Alfaro, Andover USD

"The books are being used to facilitate a flip teaching classroom. The students are asked to watch the examples for the lesson outside of class, then answer the self-test questions. The next day, instead of having to teach the lesson, we reinforce the concept with some type of class discussion and activity. My students prefer it over the standard textbook and we have had really good success with it. The examples are very good and my students are doing well! We presented it to our school board and they are very supportive and excited abo ut it."
Jill Stringer, Park County School District #1

  • The Answer to a Homeschooling Mom’s Fears

    4
    By K3KONE
I’m a mom and this year I started homeschooling my 7th grade son. I had always said that I never wanted to homeschool, it was not for me. Continued frustration with the public school system’s "teaching to the test” and reliance on parents filling in the (sometimes large) teaching gaps, made it clear it was something that I should start considering. After all, I was already spending around 2 hours a day at it during homework time. My biggest fear about homeschooling was that I would somehow fail my child, especially when it came to math, my least favorite subject. When I found the Flipped Classroom books in the iTunes store and read up on the philosophy behind them, I was floored. It seemed like a possible solution to my problem. We have now been using the Pre-Algebra for the Flipped Classroom book for four months and love it. It has provided a way for me to quickly and easily brush up on my long-forgotten math skills and, for the first time, my son is really understanding math. He will watch the videos and if he doesn’t quite understand the material, he will watch them again until he does. Each section seems to have an ideal amount of practice problems and he doesn’t feel overwhelmed. The curriculum seems to be on par with what the local public schools are teaching and I’ve recommended it to all the other homeschooling parents I know. If I was going to change anything about the book, I would want a teacher’s edition with all the answers (not just odds) so that I can grade his work quicker and there would be a multiple choice interactive test at the end of each chapter, the way many other interactive digital textbooks do.
