The goal of this book is to relieve anxiety children may feel about international travel, expose them to history and cultural diversity, while giving them something fun to read or listen to. With many photo illustrations and an activities section at the end, it is intended for parents and children to read aloud and then engage together in discussions and activities..This book is designed to have something of interest for a wide range of ages.
It tells the story of a group of 8 year olds who fly with their Grandmother to London from New York, to visit a friend who lives in a castle.They learn about airport security, plane travel and, when they get to the other end, the process of Passport Control and Customs. With their British host, they encounter cultural differences , see historical artifacts and then solve a mystery. At the same time, they learn about time zone changes and why it is still light at 9PM in Britain in the summer!
The author is a retired teacher who put it together during Covid for her grandchildren aged 7-11, who have given it their stamp of approval!
