Description

In this tour de force—part historical thriller, part modern adventure—from the New York Times bestselling author of I, Sniper, Bob Lee Swagger uncovers why World War II’s greatest sniper was erased from history…and why her disappearance still matters today.

Ludmilla “Mili” Petrova was once the most hunted woman on earth, having raised the fury of two of the most powerful leaders on either side of World War II: Joseph Stalin and Adolf Hitler. But Kathy Reilly of The Washington Post doesn’t know any of that when she encounters a brief mention of Mili in an old Russian propaganda magazine, and becomes interested in the story of a legendary, beautiful female sniper who seems to have vanished from history.

Reilly enlists former marine sniper Bob Lee Swagger to parse out the scarce details of Mili’s military service. The more Swagger learns about Mili’s last mission, the more he’s convinced her disappearance was no accident—but why would the Russian government go to such lengths to erase the existence of one of their own decorated soldiers? And why, when Swagger joins Kathy Reilly on a research trip, is someone trying to kill them before they can find out?

As Bob Lee Swagger, “one of the finest series characters ever to grace the thriller genre, now and forever” (Providence Journal-Bulletin), races to put the pieces together, Sniper’s Honor takes readers across oceans and time in an action-packed, compulsive read.

Another great novel by one of my favorite authors. Hunter has never let me down and I rate this novel as one of his best right up there with Pale Horse. I read this book for the second time and found it more entrancing than my first read. What a great author. I have had the privilege of meeting him on three different occasions and he is amazing and entertaining.
  • Hunter and Swagger at their best!

Stephen Hunter is one of, if not the best action hero writers. Bob Lee Swagger is the hero every man wants to be and every woman wants protecting her. The ultimate warrior focussed on duty and honor, willing to do what is right no matter the cost. Hunter excels in every aspect of fiction writing. Plot, pace character development, intrigue and enough historical background to tie these characters into our reality. There is always one more unexpected twist. Swagger navigates the intelligence like a chess master, always one or two plays ahead. Really a pleasure to read.

Absolutely riveting! I have read every novel this author has written and just when I think he could never write a book as good as his last he writes another one like this! If you are a competitive shooter or casual firearms enthusiast you will love the occasional detail. If not, don't worry - it doesn't take away from the novel one iota. This is a real page tuner either way! I cannot wait for the next one Stephen. Kudos on a job so very well done!

Hunter is a craftsman and never disappoints when it comes to Swagger, who finally has a costar that is his equal, Mila the White Witch.

I have read all of Hunter's books....but I admired Bob Lee much more before Hunter decided to insert Bob's politics. He was apolitical for so many years, I think right up until we elected a Black President.

Outstanding story nut bogged down with tiny detail of guns and not enough dialog.
