Description

There are three things you need to know about Sandra Fielding: 1) She makes all her first dates cry, 2) She hasn't been kissed in over two years, and 3) She knows how to knit.

Sandra has difficulty removing her psychotherapist hat. Of her last 30 dates, 29 have ended the same way: the man sobbing uncontrollably. After one such disaster, Sandra gives in to a seemingly harmless encounter with her hot waiter, Alex. Argumentative, secretive, and hostile Alex may be the opposite of everything Sandra knows is right for her. But now, the girl who has spent all her life helping others change for the better, must find a way to cope with falling for someone who refuses to change at all.

Love Hacked is book #3 in the Knitting in the City series. Each book is a standalone, full length (110k words), contemporary romantic comedy novel, and follows the misadventures and exploits of seven friends in Chicago, all members of the same knitting group.

I loved Janie and thought I couldn’t live anyone more from the group, but boy do I love Sandra after reading this. She and Alex are just the best. I adore him so much.

Really enjoyed this book. It’s a bit different from the first three books in that this time the female protagonist is the quirky bordering on irritating one. Sandra is looking for love but not having much luck as her empathetic psychiatrist personality turns dates into crying messes and then platonic friends. This time it is the male protagonist, Alex, with the boatload of issues. It’s a bit weird reading about Alex this way as I read book 4 first and Alex didn’t seem like someone with issues in that book. It was really fun getting to know more about the fellow knitters, especially Fiona. Once again Quinn gets to be the surly, mysterious hero. I just love the dynamics between all the people in this series and I love the fantastic family they are creating.

I have mixed feelings about this book, for once I loved Sandra but I did feel like she was annoying in some parts of the book. I did not fall in love with Alex like I fell for Nico aka "Nicoletta" or even McHotPants. I didn't hate him like most people but he wasn't my favorite. I did enjoy that penny decided to write a older women/young man book. This book was a little slow for me, but regardless of it. I still really enjoyed this novel and recommend this to people for a quick witty read.

I will be completely honest. I liked this book a lot and Sandra is my second favorite knitting girl, but this book was kind of hard to follow along for my wee brain. Loved sexy Alex, super yummy. But his whole background and the bit thingys, kinda confusing. But, having said that, still an enjoyable read and I can't wait to dive into the next book.
