“What an incredibly beautiful, sexy, swoony, smart and funny story about family, friends and love!” - TJ Loves to Read Romance Book Blog

“HOT, STEAMY AND SEXY!” - Feeding My Addiction Book Reviews

There are three things you should know about Quinn Sullivan: 1) He is madly in love with Janie Morris, 2) He’s not above playing dirty to get what (or who) he wants, and 3) He doesn’t know how to knit.

After just five months of dating Janie, Quinn—former Wendell and unapologetic autocrat—is ready to propose marriage. In fact, he’s more than ready. If it were up to Quinn, he would efficiently propose, marry, and beget Janie with child all in the same day—thereby avoiding the drama and angst that accompanies the four stages of pre-matrimony: engagement, meeting the parents, bachelor/bachelorette party, and overblown, superfluous wedding day traditions.

But Janie, much to Quinn’s dismay, tosses a wrench in his efficacious endeavors and challenges him to prove his devotion by going through the matrimonial motions, no matter how minute and mundane.

Will Quinn last until the wedding day? Or will he yield to his tyrant impulses?

This book is not a standalone. It is the sequel to ‘Neanderthal Seeks Human,’ and is book #1.5 in the Knitting in the City series.

The first 1.5 books of this series may just happen to be my favorite. While this book in particular is rather fast paced at times and unnecessarily indulgent in others, it shares the story of Quinn’s Family, which in my view makes it worthy of a 0.5 sequel. I love how practical Janie is, and how pragmatic. She is good but not without flaws. That is an important balance - it keeps her interesting. The character development in Janie over the 1.5 books is certainly a high point. My biggest issue with this book (and many new adult/chick lit books) is an over simplification of feminism. It certainly made my cringe as Janie requires Quinn to have several conversations regarding which chivalrous actions offended her most. Feminism/Women’s empowerment is tremendously bigger and more important than who opens your door. The concept of date rape and sexual assault themes in the book; that may have been a more fruitful placement of feminist themes that would elevate the intellectual integrity of the book by (for me) a lot.

Another fun read by Penny Reid. She has the best quirky characters that make you laugh out loud and appreciate the difference in people. I love her works and recommend this one too.

I couldn't wait to finish this book and write a review. I couldn't put it down, much like book one. Janie and Quinn, actually, all the characters have so much depth. It's like you know them personally. I loved they way they love each other in spite of their views about themselves. You can feel it when reading. I started looking forward to Quinn's text messages to Janie everyday. Sandra is hilarious and Dan the man was a stand up guy. I'm glad that more friends and family were introduced and we got to fill in the lost years. I laughed and I even teared up a couple times. This was an amazing love that no amount of weirdness or not-so-legal business could tear apart. I feel these characters are real in some way to us all. I'm sure we all have friends and family we can take or leave. Another great one from this author!! I know how I'm spending my weekend, with the Manganiellos:)

I had to find out what happened in the wedding. And I'm glad I did! Another great read. I thoroughly enjoy Janie's character she soooo smart and weird but in a lovable way. And the reunion with Quinn's family, Vegas, the wedding dress, her talk with her father before he walked down the aisle..... Just great writing!!!

This one pulled me in just as #1 did. The story flows and so do the author's words. The main characters are delightful, I could not control the giggles at some points. I am off to get the next book in the series - I want to read everything by Penny Reid!

Could be cute & humorous if edited, especially if omitting the numerous sentences starting with "as well".

Neanderthal Marries Human by Penny Reid is book 1.5 in her Knitting in the City series. It is a continuation of Quinn and Janie's story from book one, Neanderthal Seeks Human, and must be read only after you have read book one. I thought Janie & Quinn's story so far was phenomenal, this is the gourmet icing on top of the icing on the best cake ever. This book picks up where book one left off, and while it's numbered as an in-between book it is a full-length novel. Picking up the story where book one left off and continuing just past the wedding we get to learn about Quinn's parents, see more of his sister, the knitting circle and get closer to Quinn's secrets. An absolutely phenomenal book and series!
