Description

It started with a kiss...

Mari Beadie needed a boyfriend, and former NHL hockey star Chase Miller happened to be in the right place at the right time. The kiss that followed wasn't necessary, strictly speaking, but it sure was hot.

Hot enough that when the tables are turned, Chase knows just the pretty bartender to ask to be his pretend girlfriend. Only this time, it's not a one-time deal.

This is a fabulous story about a hockey player that was injured in a car accident and can no longer play the game. Chase Miller is suffering from depression because his life is no longer on the path he started on. He's seen Mari Beadie almost every day for year, to have a beer and lunch at the bar she works at. The moment he saves her from her ex by pretending to be her current boyfriend and kisses her, is the moment that starts the undeniable attraction between them. She's an aspiring song writer and he's a famous ex-hockey player, what could they possibly have in common? Chase is always unsure when it comes to Mari. Is he doing the right thing? Is he saying the right thing? Mari is never quite sure if she's enough for the ex-hockey star. They have much to learn about each other. The relationship doesn't feel rushed and progresses smoothly, with the exception of a few bumps in the road. This is a well-written sweet romance and the cover is EXACTLY as I pictured Chase and Mari to look like. Great job Zoe York! I'm super excited to read more of The Wardham series.

I already loved this series from the previous books, but add in some hockey and I'm done for! Love Chase and Mari's relationship - especially how it develops. The whole story just hit the right cord with me and I loved it. This is a must read just like every other in this series!
