Description

A high school reunion is about to get down and dirty and a whole lot more complicated in this new erotic romance from NYT Bestselling Author Katee Robert.

Jake Davis had it all in high school—a scholarship to his college of choice, a promising football career, and the gorgeous prom queen for a girlfriend. And then he lost it all when he was injured right after graduation. Ten years later, he’s mostly made his peace with that, and now runs a company that provides women with dates for special events. Imagine his surprise when he discovers that the ex who left him in the dust needs a fake boyfriend for their high school reunion…

Jessica Jackson used to be the mean girl to end all mean girls. But life didn’t turn out like she’d thought it would, and now she’s twenty-eight, single, and works as an insurance agent to A-listers instead of being the A-lister like she’d always dreamed. She can’t go back to her home town and admit just how thoroughly she’s failed, so she lets her friends set her up with a fake date for the reunion.

The second Jessica realizes that her fake date is Jake, she tries to call the whole thing off. The problem is the chemistry between them is even hotter now than it was when they were teenagers. Against her better judgment she lets herself get drawn into Jake’s arms again—and into his bed. But time doesn’t heal all wounds—sometimes, it actually makes them worse—and if Jessica and Jake can’t learn to forgive each other, their second chance might not last the weekend.

Great short story. Second chance at love. Pretty steamy sex. Jess left her hometown ten years ago. She broke up with her boyfriend after he was hurt in a football game. She was the wicked witch of the south in high school. Now she lives in L.A. and her ten year reunion is coming up, her best friends have already accepted for her. She doesn't want to go alone, so the talk her into hiring a date for the weekend. Jake was devestated when Jess left hm. He now owns Diamond Dates, the escort company. He decides to be her date but not let her know h owns the place. When he meets her at the airport, she is shocked and decides to go along with it. Old feelings return but is there too many hurt feeling and miles between them, to make this relationship work? You have a controlling mother. Father who ignores everyone. A brother. And an ex who got better looking with age. *VOLUNTARILY READ THIS FOR NETGALLEY *

3.5 Stars Any story by Katee Robert is guaranteed to bring heat and heart and Prom Queen was no exception. This second chance love story was wrapped up in redemption and forgiveness and quickly drew me in. I really liked Jessica. She has definitely had a rough childhood, but she knows now that it doesn’t entirely excuse her mean girl behavior in high school. She’s been trying to be a better person and has found a wonderful support system in her two best friends out on the west coast. Coming home for her high school reunion isn’t something she wants to do, but she knows if she wants to move forward with her life she needs to head home and not just seek forgiveness from others, but also seek forgiveness from herself. Jake was faced with not only an injury that took away any hope at a professional football career, but also with losing the one person he thought would be by his side while he recovered. He’s never forgiven Jessica for leaving him or truly gotten over her, so when he sees a chance to get close to her again and, yeah, maybe also get a little bit of revenge, he totally takes it. Of course he doesn’t count on his heart getting in the way of his plans. Jake and Jessica have a lot of issues to work out, but their attraction to one another certainly isn’t one of them! These two couldn’t be near each other without the sparks going off, but unfortunately a quick roll in the hay is not going to erase the pain and heartbreak of the past. All in all, this was a fun read that delivered everything I love in a Katee Robert book – plenty of heat and lots of heart. It did seem a bit rushed at the end and I would have liked to have had just a little bit more of what happens next (one of the drawbacks of a novella!), but overall this book delivered a great story that has me looking forward to reading the other books in this series.
