Zach Law is suffering not only because of an unseasonal San Diego heatwave, but also due to Brock the Parrot’s inappropriate squawking and his young assistant Allie's tempting body. When a flirtatious divorcee hires him to find her homeless and heroin-addicted son, he recruits his brother, Mitch, a reckless body-building ex-rocker, to scour the streets. Mitch soon lives up to his wild reputation by luring Allie along and getting stabbed during an encounter. When the man who attacked him turns up murdered, Mitch becomes the prime suspect. Under instructions from Zach, Mitch disappears while he and Allie dodge the police and anyone who could link Allie to Mitch. Finding and reuniting son to mother leads to a late-night sexual encounter with the woman which only illuminates the feelings Zach has for Allie. When everyone involved start to be threatened, Zach believes there is something darker behind the scenes and he fears for Allie's safety. Working with renewed energy causes him to discover that those closest to him, even Allie, have been hiding information and there is no one he can trust, not even Brock.
