Description

A quiet book lover falls for a rugged carpenter...who doesn't even like to read?

Maggie Bell loves working at a bookshop in the charming town of Fair Haven, Connecticut. After her beloved boss passes away, his son, Joshua Whitfield, comes into town and turns Maggie's world upside down. He wants to turn part of the store into a cafe and sell books about vampires and silly romances. Maggie is horrified.

But when an electrician is killed in the middle of the bookshop renovations, Joshua is the prime suspect. Maggie must put their differences aside to clear his name. She finds herself becoming more and more attracted to Joshua. Can a mousy bookworm really fall in love with a rugged carpenter who doesn't even like to read?

The first book in a new cozy mystery series by 3x USA Today bestselling author Harper Lin

I liked the heroine and the book’s setting. Solution to the mystery was well hidden. Clever of the author to keep us hanging at the end of book one, because we don’t know which man will win her heart. I just wish that the heroine hadn’t rolled her eyes so much, and that characters hadn’t smirked so much.

A great book but I wish there was more about Josh and Margaret’s relationship.

Only on book 3 but I loved the first two so much I can’t stop reading them. I didn’t like Maggie’s attitude at first toward people but by mid book two I love her. Usually I can figure out who the killer is but Harper Lin is pretty good at keeping me guessing until the big reveal.

The book was dragged on a little bit in some chapters but I’d say it’s definitely worth a read. Once the story starts it just keeps developing and developing so well. Some parts made me feel as if I was actually in the story. Personally I felt like some parts were a little boring or bland for too long, but I do think it’s definitely worth a read and it’s pretty quick to get through. Overall a pretty well written book with a good plot & storyline :)

It's a good story about Maggie, a shy book store clerk. She is a nice lady but not a very efficient book salesperson.
  • Lovely book!!! Highly recommend

I started this book just to get used to reading on my phone. Frankly I wasn’t expecting to even like this book. I was pleasantly surprised when I couldn’t put my phone down! Easy, relaxing read with mystery, gossip, and murder.

A gentle, sweet read! Thank you for not making it gory or to sexy. Really enjoyed knowing what would happen later without spelling out every persons ending. Lovley
