  • Not much better than having the CD

This is OK. I was hoping that this iPad/Mac version would have the speed change option that is available on the CD. As a band director, I’m discovering that more and more of my students no longer have CD players AND more and more folks have laptops without CD/DVD players. ANOTHER COMPLAINT: there’s need to be more time between the announcement of the song title and the clicks to start. Students, especially beginners, need time to get their instruments ready. I guess the idea from the writers is that the student is supposed to listen to the first half then play along on the second half. I like for them to play along WITH the professional to listen for tuning and match the tone quality.
  • Updated and optimized for iPad

Alfred updated this book using Apple's iBooks Author and it is now much easier to use and the notes are much easier to read now. The layout has been optimized for iPad so it looks and works much better now than it did before these updates were made.

One but - the font in iBooks is to small and because all the scales are images the will not increase in size. This would get 10 stars but for the squinting to see the notes. What I love - play along music files are embedded right below the exercise. Makes it super easy to follow and coordinate. The embedded videos also give great instructional help. I also like that after learning three notes they focused on quarter notes, instead of adding it in after many many notes. Seems to help me progress faster with technique.
