Silent Governess

If there were 100 stars this book would be hands down 100/100. Julie has an incredible gift with writing and this is my new favorite book (replacing the Maze Runner, I know, totally different genres but still it's true!). I have never in my life been so attached to characters or a storyline. She does an amazing job tying it all together and answering so many intriguing questions in the end. If you're a lover of heart-melting, tender romance and the Victorian era, this is sure to delight you. It made me believe in love again and I'm praying to find a man like Edward Bradley!! This book captured my heart and I highly recommend it!!!

I don’t think I’ve ever read a book more disjointed or full of so many illegitmate births. The first few chapters seemed to be from different books they were so random. First she’s almost raped in the woods, then she’s trespassing, then she’s in jail, then she’s choked and almost raped again, then she’s under some sort of house arrest, then she’s almost raped a dozen more time, blah blah blah. Oh my gosh, so bad. There was little to no character development or descriptions for that matter. I disliked every single character, not likeable at all. This book claims to be christian, and so I found the scene where she walks in on Edward in the bathtub completely inappropriate! Can’t believe I paid almost ten dollars for this. I feel as if it is very poor fanfiction or a twelve-year-old wrote it. Wouldn’t recommend this to anyone. If you’re looking for a well written regency by a current author, I suggest you read Julianne Donaldson’s works. If you are looking for superbly written regency novels, you can never go wrong with either Georgette Heyer, or Clare Darcy. A great victorian (Jane Eyre era for the uninformed) author is Madeleine Brent. Her books take you all over the world, and the books themselves are inspired, although not religious. Good clean books. Austenland is wonderful as well. Just thought I’d give you options before you either a) waste your time or b) dig your eyes out with a rusted pitch fork. My first book review, if you don’t like my opinion, you can go join the other schmucks who have little to no taste. Thanks.

I am hooked on Julie klassen's books!

I got this book for my birthday, and I couldn't put it down. It is an awesome mix of romance and mystery, and is just generally awesome. Her other books didn't quite live up to this one.
