Description

Thank goodness Christmas only comes once a year, because Barbara just wants to survive it and move on already.

Barbara's year has not been going well. Both her parents died, she gained a lot of weight, and her husband left her. And now, she's stuck attending a million holiday parties for work. . .with both her ex and his new girlfriend. She's not feeling the holiday cheer, that's for sure.

Bentley, on the other hand, has realized that while his life is pretty good, he really wants to settle down with an amazing woman. Unfortunately, while he's a whiz at making money, he's not so great at choosing people to date. He and his old friend Barbara make a deal. He'll be her date to the dreaded holiday parties, and in exchange, she'll help him weed through the dross to find the shimmering treasure he wants to build a life with.

It doesn't take Bentley very long to realize that Barbara's the one he wants, but she's not as quick to believe that she's good enough for the handsome billionaire Bentley. Can he convince her that she's everything he needs in time to spruce up the holiday season? Or will her miserable year come to just as tragic a close?

I fell in love with this story from the start. Such great characters that you feel part of the story. There were laugh out loud moments as well as some times to cry along with the character. I really had a hard time putting this down as I was anxious to see where the story was going. I love how it put an emphasis on the value of a positive self image and self worth. I had read a teaser on this before it was released and couldn’t wait to read…it did not disappoint! I highly recommend.

Bentley and Barbara are such a a sweet couple and Ricki and Nikki are adorable, smart, tough kids. Bridget E. Baker is one of my favorite authors and this story is wonderful. I couldn’t put it down.

I'm so happy B.E. Baker wrote Bently and Barbara's story. I love their chemistry. I love how comfortable they are with each other because they have been friends so long. I love the added foster story. Fun to see others from the first two books as well. Great Christmas read!
  • Sweet characters! Fun to read!

Classic B.E.Baker with a rich cast of characters and prose that hooks you in and won't let you go! You will feel Barbara's heartache and pain; will want to do serious damage to her supercilious ex-husband; and will root for Bentley as he goes from clueless silver-spoon to doing everything he can to show Barbara that she is an amazing woman: classy, clever, and beautiful. Add in a couple of precocious 11-yo twins who need a mom like Barbara and SHAZAM! You've got the B.E.Baker magic!

This is a good story! Bentley and Barbara are so cute together. They have known each other for years but have only remained friends. That is until Bentley decides he needs Barbara’s help to find the one. Barbara agrees because she needs a date to some Christmas parties that she will have to attend and her ex husband will be there. What happens when they start falling for each other?

From the first book in this series I have been in love with it. The characters, the community, all of it even Alice the “cranky” caseworker. But if I’m being completely honest this was one I was not looking forward to reading. That was the dumbest thought I have had in a long time. I think this was one of my favorites. Learning Barbara and Bentleys stories and watching their love unfold was beautiful. As a plus sized woman I loved that Barbara was plus sized as well. I can’t wait for Loaded and to learn more about Bea and have a front row seat to Barbara and Bentleys Wedding. I am praying this series doesn’t end until after Ricki and Nicki get their happily ever after too. Thank you Bridget for the love and care you put into this series. As a mom of 8 adopted kids through the foster care system you have leaned into all the right emotions, thoughts and fears throughout the series.
  • Perfect story for the holidays (but read it anytime!)

Third in the series, Minted tells the stories of Barbara and Bentley, separate friends of Dave and Seren, and introduces two new foster children. This is the “Uncle Bentley” from Nouveau Riche. The first chapter will hook you and then you will want to read the whole story through. Bentley was a busy world traveler but now middle aged has decided he might want to more seriously look into finding his forever partner and not just a weekend date. Barbara is still feeling the stinging pain from a divorce that followed very shortly after the death of not one, but both parents. (You loathe the ex already, don’t you?). Barbara’s self esteem is in the gutter and she cannot see the diamond she truly is. Everyone else around her can see her sparkle, even when she feels her worst. Bentley never gives up reminding her just what a kind, strong, gorgeous woman she is, and one day she finally believes it.

This book about Barbara & Bentley leaves you wanting so much more. From heart ache to love, this book gives you all the feels. We are introduced to a few new characters that we need to know more about (hoping for future books about them), as well as revisiting old characters that we know and love. The Scarsdale Foster series could be 20 books long and still I would want more!
