The opera Pelléas et Mélisande is the only complete opera that Debussy composed. The opera was adopted from a play by Maurice Maeterlinck and followed the Symbolist movement of which Debussy is considered a part. The story of the opera follows a love triangle between a young woman named Mélisande and her two suitors, Prince Golaud and his younger brother Pelléas.
