Description

From the BookTok sensation and New York Times bestselling author of Bully and Falls Boys comes the fourth novel in the Fall Away series.

He's the guy she’s supposed to avoid. She's the girl he won’t let get away....

K. C. Carter has always followed the rules—until this year, when a mistake leaves her the talk of her college campus and her carefully arranged life comes crashing to a halt. Now she’s stuck in her small hometown for the summer to complete her court-ordered community service, and to make matters worse, trouble is living right next door.

Jaxon Trent is the worst kind of temptation and exactly what K.C. was supposed to stay away from in high school. But he never forgot her. She was the one girl who wouldn’t give him the time of day and the only one to ever say no. Fate has brought K.C. back into his life—except what he thought was a great twist of luck turns out to be too close for comfort. As they grow closer, he discovers that convincing K.C. to get out from her mother’s shadow is hard, but revealing the darkest parts of his soul is nearly impossible....

I wasn’t really sure I wanted to read this book seeing that is was about KC, she never really interested me in Bully.. sure I wanted to learn more about Jax but KC was a turn off. When I tell you this book was absolutely gorgeous. The telling of it was amazing. I really felt for both characters and it changed me view about “KC”… Jack brings out the wild, strong, fearless girl she had buried inside her.. she became a new woman let’s just say.. We learn more about Jaxson in this book and what he went through all them years. He thought he was going to break KC out of her shell but in the end it was KC who broke his mold. This book was really good. I’ve noticed with Douglas, that the books I’ve read so far always have a deeper meaning to them than just steamy scenes. I’m into Aflame but so far this series has been amazing!

Juliet Carter AKA "KC", has known Jaxon AKA "Jax" Trent for a while. She has also known he had a crush on her. What she does not know, is he was serious about her even then. Juliet, meanwhile was still dating her long time boyfriend, Liam. Jax has waited a long time for a chance to be with Juliet. His intentions are mostly honorable and future based. He is after forever with her. He has just had to put up with her thinking if him as a "younger" brother, rather than a potential mate. Juliet, like Jax, also has a past littered with mistrust and misery. Juliet has a hard time trusting anyone much less seeing the future. Her family has always called her by her sisters name who died. No one seems to see her as Juliet, herself. Can they find love with each other and make a future? Jax, just wants her to give a chance. He knows if he can just get the chance to show her how much he worships her, that she will see all that he has to offer. They have both been attracted to one another - just never acted on it. I loved the continuation of the Fall Away series. It is so good with very complex characters. I found that they are honest, loyal, and fierce characters that make me excited for the next book!

  • Is there even enough words to describe how I feel about this book?

I have one thousand thoughts running through my mind about this book and these characters but I just can't even put them down into a coherent sentence. It's like Penelope described when Juliet was writing In her journals and Jax was trying to figure out what she was writing. I have no words to describe it. I'm feeling way too many emotions and begging silently to myself that I'll get more of these characters. I loved Juliet and Jax and the torment of their pasts because it made them so real to me. I felt connected and entranced. Some people say Penelope gets better and better with each new story and that's true, but what's even truer is that she's always been this great with her words that make us feel unbelievably connected to her stories and her characters. I've never been as addicted to a series more than I have hers and I'll proudly admit that these are the novels I return to again and again to lose myself. An infinite amount of stars are deserved for this one and all of them before in the series. I know even more greatness will come from Penelope, and I can not wait!
