Smoke and Fire

I love it!

I don't know what possessed me to pick this book to read... it IS clearly stated at #9 in a series. Normally I am the reader that has to start at the first book then work my way through the entire series in order, but something about this cover or the title or just the blurb made me jump right in. (and I am not much of a paranormal reader either so all around I am shocked and please with this choice..) I'm going to be honest.. it wasn't super easy to keep all the names straight at first but then I was drawn into the story and all was good. Donna Grant does a great job of letting the reader know what is going on with out giving loads of backstory (retelling previous books). I knew enough to enjoy this book and I learned that Donna Grant is an author I need to read more of... Not only did I fall in love with Ryder, I am fascinated with this world of dragons and Fae... and Reapers! I can't wait to see who the next book is about (Rhi is a fascinating character I need more of) but I NEED to go back and know about all these Dragon Kings. Well done, Donna Grant, well done. I am a fan :)

Smoke and Fire by Donna Grant is the 9th installment of the Dragon Kings series, we finally get to see our favorite jelly donut loving Dragon, Ryder who is everything computers and muscle, is the mastermind of security of Dreagan, from his many cameras and computers, and searching the world for the Dragon kings enemy, along with keeping his eye on the one woman who captured his heart a few years back Kinsey who lives in Glasgow and trying her best to forget about Ryder and the dragon he is since he left her and then showed up years later to shift into a dragon, for fear she ran, but now Kinsey has been sent to Dreagan by the computer company that she works for, now her and Ryder race to discover who was really behind her being sent and set up as a spy and to prove her innocence, along the way they sort out their feelings for each other before everything goes up in smoke. I liked Kinsey and Ryder the author did an amazing job with these two characters and staying true to who Ryder is and why we all fell in love with this dragon so many books ago. There wasn't as much action in this installment that we are use to with the series but it was nice to see more into what goes on in the computer room.. Oh let's not forget about RHI and her Reaper whom is following her, dare I say? Things are going to get interesting with those two.. :-) great book Donna Grant!
