Description

Kate Tanner is getting more than she bargained for in this "woman disguised as a man" romance. Fleeing from her parents' killers, she disguises herself as Billy Ingram and leaves the big city Virginia life to work on a remote farm out in the middle of nowhere, North Dakota where the handsome, but aloof, Chad Walker hires her as a farmhand.

Between trying to prove that she can handle the more demanding farm chores and trying to fit in with the other farmhands, she has her work cut out for her. Then, one morning, Chad discovers she's a woman, so she quickly makes up the excuse that "Billy's" sister, Kate, decided to come by for a visit.

That's when things really get interesting. Lacy Montgomery is in love with "Billy" and nothing disgusts the woman. The farmhands are in love with Kate. She's in love with Chad who may or may not love her back. Her brother, the real Billy, shows up and she's forced to don on another female disguise to ward off Lacy altogether.

Among the laughter and constant costume changes, Kate might discover that the most unlikely place for love is the perfect place after all.

  • Couldn’t Finish

Unfortunately I only made it about 25% in and had to stop. Honestly felt like I was reading something from two different authors. Certain parts were well written and engaging, then it does a 180 into something that an inexperienced 9th grader would write. Unnecessary sentences, over describing, and unbearable over-use of names..”he” and “him” seem to not be in the vocabulary at different points. I tried to move forward and finish because it’s a decent story line, but the sentence structures made attempting unenjoyable.

This, unfortunately was so weakly written I couldn’t even finish the book. The story was ridiculous, the characters were weak, and the author really couldn’t write convincingly in the historical timeframe. Don’t bother!

The author seems contemptuous of her readers because of the numerous errors in content. Shabbily written and poorly edited, she can do much better than this.

This book is the best I have read in a while. I laughed until I almost cried. None of Ms. Nordin's books have disappointed me. I am ready for the next one!

I hat to be juvenile but this book is dumb! Yeah, I'm supposed to believe that this story takes place in 1880. The only thing that could have saved it for me is if Chad had expressed his attraction for 'Billy' instead of Kate.

I absolutely love it!!!!! For free book, it deserves to be priced. I just finished reading it and it was so good I wish there was more. The book is also really funny, and also ironic. But love is to funny for words. If you thinking about getting the book, then get it!!! Don't think twice.

There are some small errors and things that shouldve been changed but for the most part, it was amazing!! I read it in a day and hardly put down my iPod. I was almost late for soccer practice because I couldn't put it up. Totally worth downloading(: lol

So many errors, plot issues and unbelievable characters. No one would act as these characters do the story line keeps getting more and more ridiculous as the story progresses. It reads like a first attempt by a teenager.
