Description

Mary Peters despairs that she will never marry. At nineteen, she has no prospects of finding a husband, so she takes matters into her own hands and becomes a mail-order bride. When she arrives to Omaha, Nebraska to meet the man she's due to marry, he takes one look at her homely appearance and rejects her.

But fate has other plans for Mary. Dave Larson happens to be nearby and thinks she will make a good wife. Though she is stunned that someone as handsome and as kind as Dave would ask her to marry him, she accepts. She knows that this marriage will not bear the fruits of love. Love, after all, is for beautiful women. Isn't it?

Dave and Mary have two other books:
To Have and To Hold - Mary gets amnesia, and Dave takes her to Maine to help her recover her memory.
Forever Yours - Dave falls off a horse and breaks his leg. This is a much more lighthearted romance where we get to see each of Dave's siblings, in addition to an update on Dave and Mary's happily ever after. (This is due out November 2019.)

I have read this book probably a dozen times. This has to be my favorite series from any author. It’s true in life people will judge you by the way you look, how much money you make, religion or more. But in this book a sweet positive man finds a young lady he falls in love with because he looks down deep into her heart and finds a beautiful person. Beautiful story..get your tissues you will need them.
  • Real believable romance.

I read this story in one day. It was AWSOME to see the words of this romantic love story that was so realistic. I too am the ugly duckling of my family, I too am the person that takes care of everyone with the good "soul". I too married a person who saw beyond my "plain" outward appearance and treats me like a queen, moved me away from the family who took advantage of me and doesn't stand by and let others take advantage of me. I too have beautiful sisters and family members who looked to me to take care of them. I too lost babies (5) before having 2 who survived. Seeing similarities in my life with a few twist gave me reason to smile. Great job! A true romance novel!

This author is so very talented . Her books are so intriguing to read that I find myself being drawn into the story. I cannot lay the book down and leave it until I pick it back up. The thoughts go with me. The story stays with me until I resume reading.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and this book was a lovely story of a man who loved his wife. The characters are believable through their imperfections and wouldn’t every woman want a husband as caring and dedicated as Dave! There were parts of this story that touched my heart and made me question my failed relationships…even brought tears to my eyes. Enjoyed reading it very much.
