Description

She was his savior…
Banished from London for her reckless behavior, Lady Miranda Sinclair is robbed by a dashing highwayman en route to the country. By offering him a kiss in lieu of the jewels she had to leave behind, she commits the very type of act that caused her exile. When her dour guardians extend her punishment to performing charitable work at the local orphanage, she’s further tempted by the home’s owner, a provincial gentleman who stirs her passion.
He was her downfall…
Desperate to save his orphanage from financial catastrophe, Montgomery “Fox” Foxcroft leads a double life as a highwayman. The arrival of wealthy, well-connected Miranda, whose kiss he can’t forget, presents a lawful opportunity to increase his coffers. His problems seem solved—until she rejects his suit. Out of options and falling for the heiress, Fox must risk what principles he has left and take advantage of her wicked ways—even if it ruins them both.

There are just things that the H and H do that I don’t understand, or are not fully explored, so I found myself being annoyed rather than enamored with them. Lady Miranda makes love to Fox, but then makes a big scene about not marrying him, without an adequate explanation.
  • Great historical romance!

Lady Miranda Sinclair lives to break the rules, Her wicked ways result in her being exiled in the rustic country and a prisoner of her temporary guardians. On the very night she is to begin her exile, their entourage is robbed by a masked highwayman. The price is a kiss. Montgomery Foxcroft has more responsibility than the funds in his coffers. Barely making ends meet to cover the upkeep of his estate and the orphanage, which is the centuries old legacy of his ancestors, he leads a double life. I love the characters of Lady Miranda and Fox in this book. Watching Lady Miranda mature, learn the value of hard work, and what it means to put the needs of others before herself was heartwarming. Darcy Burke has created another memorable couple worth championing. I actually read the Regency Treasure Hunters Series first and was delighted to get to read the story of the characters I was introduced to there. There is scandal, romance, and corruption. I'm very much looking forward to reading the next book, His Wicked Heart, featuring Jasper Sinclair. I am privileged to be a part of Darcy's Dream Team, where I receive ARCs in exchange for honest reviews.

I hated to put this story down. Really good read. Loved Miranda and Fix' characters. A few humorous parts. Loved how her character evolved.

I usually don't write reviews but I was so annoyed reading this that I felt I should warn others. The plot in this book was so monotonous. I felt no attraction to the the leading man or woman, their character development was very poor, I couldn't picture him at all except that I was reminded how long his hair was several times. I felt like the author was just rambling on trying to fill the pages, like when her parents come see her only to tell her they are going to marry her off and then they leave and I didn't understand why we wasted so much time on that but then I realized it was because the plot was so lacking.
  • good plot

usually these books have the heroine trying to nab the hero, but this one is the opposite which makes this book interesting, and I loved the way the book started. it could have been a great book but the author filled this book with repetitive musings that did nothing to further the plot, but only seemed to slow down the reader and bore me. I only continued skimming to get to the payoff which was very good and very steamy which I do love. I don't understand why most of these self published authors feel they have to fill their books with the same thoughts over and over and over again. if this author streamlined her book it would be a delightful read.
